Found these candle holders are great for making eyes. Here are 3 examples.
Squarejaw McGraw.
It’s a fish…with a square jaw!
Love some Pebeo gel!
2021 ornaments part 1
Every year I make ornaments. Part I is “things with fins.”
The 2021 ornament collection (part I)
King Cletus
Tried out some different teeth on this guy. Less time on the cutting out process since I don’t have to cut out teeth, but actually much harder to paint/shade this type of teeth. Anyways, I think it turned out pretty cool.
Sunset Steve
His eye is a grinding disc. I love those because they’re porous and super easy to paint.
Air Rick
Not Eric! Air Rick! I love stupid puns.
Maurice Hawk
New one. I thought the Mohawk was pretty eye-catching so I left the body fairly plain.
New Angler Fish
Why I’m an art supply hoarder: I got a bag of costume jewelry at least a year ago. Didn’t know what I was going to do with it. It sat there for a long time. About a month ago, I realized I could use these things for angler fish. And that’s why I hoard art supplies.
New “how I did this video”: muscles Nuevo.
Nobody’s Appetizer
One of the weirdest things I’ve made in a while. But we’ll executed (at least I think!)
New video: Chief Teef
I put a fairly detailed time lapse of this one on my YouTube. Fairly new technique with the golf tee teeth, I like how it turned out. A little scarier, perhaps, than most of my work.
My first time lapse!
This was the painting process for one of my newest works, titled “Movie Star.” I’m going to make more of these in the future.
Purple Blaine
Just a purple angler fish with kind of a punny name. Been doing a lot of purple stuff lately.
Albert Crabstein
Out with the old…
Made this partially out of an old one I didn’t really like. This one is much better in my opinion.
Purple Hair Don’t Care
Used spray painted astroturf for the hair. The teeth are painted glass tiles. Part of the eye is a shower curtain rod holder.
Muscular Hammerhead
Though it is very time-consuming, I’ve always liked painting muscles. Lots of detail work on these.
Large Surfing Toucan
Strutting Toucan
Because strutting is not just for peacocks anymore.
Another whale with braces
I discovered that I can use a tube of something called Cerne Relief to make the “wire.” Much easier than drilling holes and using actual wire. I bought the tube on clearance years ago and never used it until a few weeks ago. Now I love it. And that, my friends, is why I hoard art supplies.
