The concave shape on the body is new and different. I stumbled upon that by drawing a bunch of triangles. When I’m struggling creatively I go back to triangles and I always come up with something new.
Toothy McBiggums
New (old) one!
Sometimes I finish something and it’s just not quite right and I have to look at it for a few months before I figure out how to redo it. This was one of those pieces. Moved the eye up and redid the teeth and voila, now I like it!
4.0 GPA
The final in my mysterious GPA-engraved coasters series. Possibly the best of the bunch in my opinion.
A rare painting…on canvas
I don’t paint canvases very much but I had this very large canvas lying around and I didn’t want to move it to our new house. So I painted it and I like how it turned out. Kind of monochromatic.
Here’s a cute one
Nothing crazy here but we’ll-executed in my opinion.
Cut from the same board, so cousins?
New one! Nice fade.
Swordfish!
New tooth material…shelf supports!
As I was breaking down a salvaged piece of furniture, I found some of these shelf supports and had an “aha” moment that they would make great teeth.
Kerminardo!
Couldn’t decide if it reminds me of Kermit the frog or Leonardo from teenage mutant ninja turtles. So I split the difference.
Couple new commissioned ones
Bike chain and golf tees for teeth.
Knitting needles?
Got a whole bunch of these. Once I realized they were bendable, I realized they’d be great as fins
New material….feathers!
The fin on this one always kind of bothered me so I chopped it off and added some feathers into a groove made with a biscuit joiner.
New angler fish. With found objects!
Incorporates a gold thingy I found (I think?) on the side of a road. Plus an earring.
New eyeball material!
Found these candle holders are great for making eyes. Here are 3 examples.
Squarejaw McGraw.
It’s a fish…with a square jaw!
Love some Pebeo gel!
2021 ornaments part 1
Every year I make ornaments. Part I is “things with fins.”
The 2021 ornament collection (part I)
King Cletus
Tried out some different teeth on this guy. Less time on the cutting out process since I don’t have to cut out teeth, but actually much harder to paint/shade this type of teeth. Anyways, I think it turned out pretty cool.
Sunset Steve
His eye is a grinding disc. I love those because they’re porous and super easy to paint.
